Namaste goes global: French president Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel adopted the Indian style of greeting.
Namaste is the new handshake, thanks to the Coronavirus AKA COVID19. : Indian greeting Namaste goes global. In the last few years, we have seen that to stop the spread of the coronavirus AKA COVID19, more people, including global leaders, are using the Indian greeting of Namaste. It has become a good alternative to handshakes in the time of coronavirus.
In March, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has endorsed the Namaste, saying that the world is increasingly adopting the no-contact way of greeting.
Speaking of which, This time, French President Emmanuel Macron leaned forward and folded his hands in the traditional Indian “namaste” as he welcomed German Chancellor Angela Merkel at his Mediterranean holiday retreat, the Fort of Bregancon, in southern France. Angela Merkel also reciprocated with Namaste.
Their clip of greeting each other with Namaste has gone viral on the internet and Indians can’t keep calm.
A video of Prince Charles, 71, greeting people with a “Namaste” in London had gone viral on social media in March. US President Donald Trump and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin are among some of the world leaders who have adopted the Desi Greeting style Namaste.
