Last week, Jayaraj was taken in by the police and soon after his son Fenix was arrested too when he went to enquire about his father’s arrest.

You barely heard about Jayaraj and Bennix’s arrest. Well, the entire world joined hands and demanded justice for the death of George Floyd due to police brutality but here two of our own people were attacked & killed by shoving iron rods & lathis into their private parts and most of hardly know about this case.

A father-son duo, P Jayaraj, and J Bennicks were picked up by #TamilNadu police for opening their shop during the lockdown in Tuticorin. News reports now suggest they were brutally sexually assaulted as well as violently thrashed in police custody, post which both of them have succumbed to their injuries. This incident has resulted in mass outrage across Tamil Nadu, resulting in public outrage and riots.

The police said that the duo kept their mobile shop open during the lockdown. They were allegedly beaten to death by the police. Fenix died at the Kovilpatti General Hospital on June 22, while his father died on June 23.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami, on Wednesday, assured legal action as per the orders of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court and action based on the magisterial probe into the custodial death of the father-son duo.
